Take part in a meaningful and insightful community event celebrating NAIDOC Week, held in Station Street on Thursday 9 July 2026, from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Hosted by Brimbank City Council, featuring a rich program of cultural sharing, storytelling, and ceremony, including:
- A traditional Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country to open the event in a culturally respectful way
- A multi-generational conversation exploring the history and significance of NAIDOC, led by a panel of First Nations speakers
- A special live performance by Pirritu
- The official flag raising ceremony marking the occasion
Plus, a range of engaging activities for all ages to enjoy throughout the event:
- A Yarning Circle facilitated by Uncle Shane, offering space for open conversation and connection
- Children’s Craft Workshop hosted by the Aunties, encouraging creativity and cultural learning
- A 50 Years of NAIDOC Posters Gallery showcasing the evolution and legacy of NAIDOC Week
- Indigenous storytelling sessions presented by Brimbank Libraries
- ‘Little Wombats’ children’s activities delivered by Sydenham Neighbourhood House
- Face painting by Yarn Strong Sista, celebrating culture through art and expression
